YOU CAN STOP READING LINES NOBODY IS FILMING

classic

I love any album that gets better every time you listen to it, and this is that kind of album.  There's so much range and variety from this Milwaukee based band, it's hard to pick a genre.  This is what music should be.  I'm pretty sure this is going to break my top 20 for the year.

TAKIN OFF ALL YOUR CLOTHES AND MAKIN SURE NOTHIN SHOWS

I found this on Sordo last week and it said 'RIYL Strange Boys'.
I <3 The Strange Boys so I couldn't resist grabbing it.
Great decision.

SANDY SAYS THAT TIME IS RUNNING OUT

Please check out one of the most underrated bands of the last 5 years.  'The Glowing City' was my #1 album from 2008 and Austin's 'Blonde' Bill Baird is back in top-form for this year's release 'Loveshines But the Moon is Shining Too'.   Snag it below before they kill my link.

LOCK YOUR DOORS... THEY'RE COMING!!!

Blackpool, England.   Girl Talk meets Fake Blood meets the 80's.  More editing than a Special-Ed essay.  Super sick album.

I WANT YOU TO SEE BIRDS

This ep by Balam Acab is seriously chill.  The band includes 19-year-old Alec Koone and nobody else.  This paragraph from mishkanyc.com pays one of the better compliments that can be given currently... "Koone’s usage of the internet as his sound palette and the slowness with which his compositions meander presumptuously groups his music alongside witch house/drag. But while I’m sure Salem and Balam Acab have equal appreciation for one another’s work, See Birds is complex in its textures, setting itself apart and, conceptually speaking, having more in common with Panda Bear and Four Tet than witch house."  Get this shit NOW....

TRUMAN PEYOTE/MANY MANSIONS

Truman Peyote live: photo courtesy LastFM

Truman Peyote is a 2-man outfit (with help from others) from Jamaica Plain, Mass and has the coolest band name ever.  According to member Caleb Johannes, they don't make strictly dance or electronic music, instead "we use electronics that have the ability to make dance music, but we use these tools to sequence and create a much different sound."   Crazy trippy intros lead way to wonderfully melodic rhythmic chants in 'Kartwheels,' one of the better songs on the album.  WeeklyDig refers to their sound as "a Martian tribe emulating pygmy music, or ghostly reverberations from a dancefloor in the future."  Either way, get your digital hands on this digital copy and try it out.

NEON CANYON

Apparently this is what people refer to as 'shoegaze'...  I don't have a clue but it's good.

You can follow them if you want.

Electric Sunset is Nic Zwart.  He's based in San Francisco.  Evidence suggests he is a chill ass bro.

WHAT IF WE WERE CREATED TO GAZE AT THE STARS UP ABOVE?

ladies love JTG

I feel like this is similar to what Queen would make if they had evolved and continued putting out records.  Jukebox the Ghost has been around for a while now, and I really liked their last album.  This album officially dropped yesterday.  Lots of great agnostic lyrics in here too!

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD IT... WHITE MAGIC!

This isn't 'brand spankin new' but I don't think enough people have heard this yet.   CEO is the Swedish Eric Berglund, one of two members from The Tough Alliance (TTA).  White Magic is his official debut, but it doesn't take long to realize he's been here for a while.  Already on the short-list for 'best of 2010'.

I AWOKE JUST NOW. I DON'T KNOW FROM WHAT.

I don't remember where I got this originally, but I found a link that was posted by the artist himself.
This is some pretty unclassifiable stuff with lots of great old sounds and clips.

I'VE NEVER WRITTEN A LOVE SONG...

This is an album I've been listening to for several months and it never ceases to amaze me how young these guys are.  Avi (pictured right) is barely out of high school, but already touring with giants like Modest Mouse and Wilco.  Hurry while you can still say you heard them first!

I CAN'T GET OFF OF MY CLOUD...

"The future's a blind man who never stops crying.  He bleeds with his eyes, and never dies."

Get with the program and start enjoying THE WHITSUNDAYS.  Just enough pep to avoid cutting your wrists.
